Brandina Chisambo: Weaving Creativity Into Every Thread of Life

Photography by Phiwo Ndlovu

From photography to crochet, modeling to abstract art, Brandina Chisambo is the embodiment of a woman unafraid to create freely. Her journey is not defined by a single title, but by obedience to purpose, faith in God’s leading, and a willingness to work with her hands in whatever form creativity takes.

Born in Malawi and raised in Manchester from the age of four, Brandina’s life has always existed at the intersection of culture, creativity, and calling. Today, she wears many hats — photographer, actor, model, UGC content creator, crochet artist, abstract artist, and jewellery maker — and she wears them boldly.

A Creative Calling That Couldn’t Be Ignored

For a time, Brandina tried to balance her creative pursuits with a more traditional job, working at Debenhams while taking on creative opportunities where she could. But as her artistry began to open doors, the clash became undeniable.

“I remember doing an event with JD Sports and some Love Island people, but I had to leave early to go to work,” she recalls. “I just thought, this isn’t it.

That moment became a turning point — a quiet but firm nudge to take her creativity seriously and trust that it could sustain her.

Unlike many creatives who face pushback, Brandina’s journey was met with encouragement at home. Her mother, also a creative with a love for acting, modelling, and being in front of the camera, supported her wholeheartedly. That support laid a foundation of confidence that allowed Brandina to pursue her calling without fear.

Created to Work With Her Hands

Creativity has always been part of Brandina’s story. At school, she excelled in art and drama, earning top grades — but more importantly, finding joy.

“I can do academics,” she says, “but it never really fulfilled my heart.”

What fulfilled her was creating — working with her hands, expressing herself visually, and stepping in front of the camera. Even then, she knew her future would not be boxed into one lane.

That freedom to explore has become one of her greatest strengths.

“One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you don’t need to have everything figured out,” Brandina shares. “Life teaches you as you go.”

In a world that often pressures women to niche down and choose just one thing, she offers a refreshing truth: you are allowed to pursue multiple passions. For Brandina, photography supports her crochet work, modelling feeds into content creation, and everything connects in ways she never planned — but God already did.

Edifying Others Through Creativity

At the heart of everything Brandina creates is intention.

“My motivation is to edify people through the works of my hands,” she says.

Whether she’s capturing a moment through photography, creating wearable art, or designing a piece someone will cherish, her work carries pieces of herself — offered as a gift meant to bring joy.

She also treasures the variety that creative life brings. No two days look the same. One day might involve crocheting a hat, another attending a networking event, modelling, or painting. That unpredictability isn’t chaotic to her — it’s life-giving.

Faith as Her Foundation

Faith is not an accessory in Brandina’s journey; it is the foundation beneath every step.

“I give all my worries to God,” she says simply. “I pray and trust that He has ordered my steps.”

She carries a confession that has followed her since childhood: Every step I take, God has given me this land. It’s a declaration she grew up speaking with her family — words that later proved prophetic.

As a child, her mother had them say it while walking to school, and even during a visit to the BBC. Years later, her mother would go on to work there — a powerful reminder that faith spoken aloud plants seeds long before we see the fruit.

Wherever Brandina goes now, she believes she has been placed there intentionally — for purpose, for growth, and for impact.

Words for the Woman Ready to Begin

For women standing at the edge of their creative calling, Brandina’s advice is both honest and freeing:

“Just start.”

Not when it’s perfect. Not when you feel ready. Just start.

She encourages women to build connections, seek community, and learn from those further along the journey. Growth, she reminds us, often requires making things that aren’t great at first — and that’s okay.

“A lot of the things I started with were awful when I look back,” she laughs. “But I needed to go through that process to get where I am now.”

Becoming, One Work at a Time

Brandina Chisambo’s story is a testament to what happens when a woman trusts God, honours her gifts, and allows herself to create without limitation. Her life reflects the truth behind The Works of Her Hands — that purpose is revealed not all at once, but through faithful, creative obedience.

And as her journey continues, one thing remains clear: every piece she creates carries meaning, intention, and faith — crafted not just to be seen, but to edify.
